Matthew Barney was born on March 25, 1967 and is an American artist who was born in San francisco, California. He graduated from Yale University in 1989 and worked as a J. Crew male model in the 1990’s. His works are mainly made of sculpture, photography, drawing and film. Barney is best known for his Cremaster Cycle films which were made from 1994-2002 (Wikipedia). The films were not made in order though, it was made in the order of 4, 1, 5, 2, 3. These series of films center around sexual development and the male cremaster muscle which is a muscle involved in the lowering and rising of the testes in response to temperature.
