Matthew Barney is an american artist that has created sculptural pieces as installations and accompanied by videos. He is most famous for his creation of the “Cremaster Cycle” from 1994 until 2002 which is a series of five films. The series is called “Cremaster” and the cremaster is the muscle in the male body that raises and lowers the testicles. In these films he really celebrates the pleasure of exposed skin as well as sexualized characters. As a San Francisco native, he ended up in New York City after graduating from Yale University. He was a male model for J.Crew and that is how he financed a lot of his pieces in the beginning of his career.
the last one is really interesting. I think its cool how much make up can make a person look different. But I dont see the message he was trying to portray in this movie because it has nothing to do with the overall theme of the series.
