Parker is an English installation artist. Her most famous work Cold Dark Matter was created from a shed she had blown up by the British military, which she suspended the pieces as if it was being blown up. She is intrigued by every day items and how we perceive them. Parkers works have been in exhibitions around the world and she continues to work today.
The work Cold Dark Matter is most interesting to me. I always enjoy artists who manage to manipulate objects to create the perception of a split moment in time.
I like how Cornelia Parker uses a regular everyday object and makes it into art by capturing a still frame in time of the object exploding, like in her art Cold Dark Matter. I also like how she takes metal objects such as silver pots and instruments and flattens them to make really intriguing art, like in her work Alter Ego.
